Shut the Duo privacy policy
Effective October 3, 2026.
Shut the Duo collects no data. Period.
- No accounts. The app has no sign-in of its own and never asks who you are.
- No analytics or tracking. Shut the Duo doesn't collect usage data, device identifiers, location, or anything else, and contains no third-party code that does.
- Your games stay on your phone. The game in progress, your records, your streak and your settings are stored only on your device. Deleting the app deletes them.
- Motion is used only to hear you shake. While the phone is shut, the app reads its motion sensor to rattle the dice. Nothing is recorded or kept.
- Game Center is Apple's. If you are signed in to Game Center, your daily box score and achievements are sent to Apple under your Game Center name so they can appear on leaderboards. I never receive them. Signed out, the game plays the same.
- Purchases go through Apple. The $2.99 unlock is sold and checked by Apple through the App Store. I receive only Apple's standard aggregate sales reports, which contain no personal information.
- Reminders stay on your phone. If you turn on the daily reminder, the notification is scheduled by your phone. Nothing is sent to a server.
- Sharing is yours. A daily box result leaves the phone only when you share it yourself.
If any of this ever changes, this policy will be updated before the change ships, and the app's listing will say so.
